Session 1: Social Innovation, 9:00 am Social Innovation: Opportunity for Action Edward Jackson is Associate Dean (Research and Graduate Affairs) in the Faculty of Public Affairs at Carleton University, Chair of the Carleton Centre for Community Innovation and an Associate of the Sprott Centre for Social Enterprises. Dr. Jackson chairs working groups at Carleton on community engagement and on partnerships, and has directed major action research projects on community economic development, social enterprise and social finance supported by the McConnell Foundation, Bell Canada, SSHRC and other government agencies. He has also studied livelihood sustainability in Ottawa's technology sector, and investigated new financial products for affordable housing in the region. He is a specialist in assessing the social return on investments in social enterprises, and in the evaluation of CSR programs, and is a recipient of the Canadian Evaluation Society Award for Contribution to Evaluation in Canada. |
